Strata Band Ring – Recycled Sterling Silver 925 Sand Cast

A sculptural band from the new “Recast” collection, the Strata Ring is cast in recycled sterling silver using a traditional sand-casting process carried out entirely in my Cornwall studio. Created from an original lost wax carving, the design celebrates the beauty of transformation, where material, texture, and process become an integral part of the finished piece.

The surface reveals a rugged, organic texture contrasted by a smooth polished interior and defined edges. Inspired by geological strata and weathered landscapes, the ring captures the appearance of layered formations shaped over time. The subtle imperfections created through the sand-casting process are embraced rather than concealed, giving each piece a distinct character and authenticity.

With a substantial weight of approximately 13.3 g and a width of 8.07 mm, the ring has a reassuring presence on the hand while remaining comfortable for everyday wear.

Concept

The Recast collection explores transformation through material and process. Inspired by geological formations, erosion, and the passage of time, each piece embraces the unpredictable textures created during casting. Rather than pursuing perfection, the collection celebrates individuality, preserving the marks left by making and allowing the silver to tell its own story.
