Barrel Ring – Unique Handcrafted Sterling Silver Statement Ring
Designed as a study in volume and surface, this piece takes its form from industrial reference points, reinterpreted into a refined, wearable object with a raw, architectural presence.
The design is finished with a combination of polished and oxidised areas, creating a contrast between light-reflective surfaces and deeper, shadowed textures that emphasise its cylindrical structure.
With a top width of approximately 9.22 mm, the ring has a compact yet solid profile on the hand, offering both weight and balance. Rather than aiming for uniform perfection, the design embraces material variation and the tactile evidence of making.

Concept
This piece explores repetition, containment, and form reduction — taking the essential language of the barrel and distilling it into a minimal yet weighty ring structure. The interplay between polished and oxidised surfaces creates a sense of time-worn materiality, as though the object has been shaped by both making and erosion. The lost wax process reinforces this dialogue between control and accident, where surface becomes narrative.

Maker’s Note
“This ring is about simplicity of form with complexity in surface. I wanted it to feel like something found as much as something made — an object that carries the memory of industrial shape but softened through hand processes. The oxidation brings depth, while the polish interrupts it, creating a quiet tension across the surface. It is a small object, but with a strong physical presence.”
