Ridge Signet Ring – Recycled Sterling Silver 925 Sand Cast

A sculptural statement ring from the Recast collection, handcrafted in recycled Sterling Silver 925 using traditional lost wax carving and sand-casting techniques in my Cornwall studio. Created from an original wax model, the design explores the beauty of transformation, where texture, form, and process become inseparable from the finished piece.

Inspired by weathered landscapes, eroded rock formations, and the passage of time, the ring features a flowing raised ridge that moves across the surface, contrasting with the organic textures created naturally during casting. The subtle variations and markings produced by the sand-casting process are embraced rather than concealed, giving each piece its own character and authenticity.

With a substantial weight of approximately 11.6 g and a width of 9.96 mm at its widest point, the ring has a reassuring presence on the hand while remaining comfortable for everyday wear.

Concept

The Recast collection explores transformation through material and process. Inspired by geological formations, erosion, and the passage of time, each piece embraces the unpredictable textures created during casting. Rather than pursuing perfection, the collection celebrates individuality, preserving the marks left by making and allowing the silver to tell its own story.

Maker's Note

"This ring began as a contemporary interpretation of the traditional signet ring. Rather than creating a polished surface, I was drawn to the idea of a signet shaped by time itself — its surface worn, fractured, and transformed by the forces of nature. Through the sand-casting process, each piece develops its own subtle variations, ensuring that every ring carries a unique character and story within the metal."
