Introduction Gemstone Ring Workshop For Two

Working side by side, you will each design and carve your own gemstone ring using the traditional lost wax carving technique.

Throughout the workshop, you'll learn how professional jewellers transform wax into precious metal while exploring shape, proportion, texture and surface detail. You'll be guided through every stage of the process, allowing you to create a ring that reflects your own style and personality.

By the end of the session, each participant will have completed a professional wax ring prototype ready for casting.

During the workshop, each participant will create one gemstone ring and can choose between two different gemstone-setting methods.

Cast-in-Place Gemstone Setting

Selected gemstones can be secured directly into the wax model before casting, allowing the stone to remain in place throughout the casting process.

One gemstone from the workshop collection is included with each ring. You may choose from a selection of suitable stones, including:

• Faceted garnet
• Cabochon garnet
• Cubic zirconia

Only certain gemstones are suitable for cast-in-place casting.

If you would like to use a premium gemstone, such as a sapphire, moissanite, spinel or another suitable stone, this may be possible depending on availability, size and suitability for the cast-in-place process. Premium stones can be supplied or specially ordered on request and will incur an additional charge.

Traditional Gemstone Setting

Alternatively, your ring can be designed with a setting ready for your chosen gemstone to be professionally set after casting.

One gemstone from the workshop collection is included with each ring. Available options typically include:

• Amethyst
• Citrine
• Peridot

If you would like a different or premium gemstone, such as a sapphire, emerald, ruby or another precious or semi-precious stone, I can source it for you where available. The final cost will depend on the gemstone selected, its size and availability, and any additional charge will be confirmed before ordering.

Duration: Approximately 5 hours

This is a relaxed, private workshop designed to give you plenty of time to enjoy the making process while creating a beautiful gemstone ring.

A short break is included during the session for lunch or dinner, depending on the workshop time. Guests are welcome to bring their own food to enjoy during the break.

Should you wish to extend your workshop, additional studio time may be arranged by mutual agreement and charged accordingly.

The workshop takes place in my professional jewellery studio in Cornwall.

For your comfort and safety, please:

• Wear comfortable clothing suitable for studio work
• Tie back long hair
• Avoid loose sleeves or jewellery that could interfere with tools

Following the workshop, your wax rings can be professionally cast in sterling silver, gold or your chosen precious metal.

Casting costs are calculated separately according to your chosen metal.

If you've selected a traditional gemstone setting, your stone can be professionally set after casting. If you've chosen the cast-in-place method, suitable gemstones will remain securely in place during the casting process.

Optional finishing, polishing and final detailing services are also available.

Finished rings are typically completed within approximately three weeks.
